A Legacy Born from Passion

The story of Noopur Nritya Academy is rooted in the lifelong journey of its founder, Vyju Iyengar, whose love for Bharatanatyam began at the age of four.

 

Vyju’s classical training is deep and authentic, spanning several influential styles, starting with the Mysore Style under Choodamani Rao, continuing with Guru Padma Thangavel, and progressing to the Pandanallur Style under Guru Vasundara Sampathkumar. This extensive training, paired with her early teaching experience starting at age 16 in Bangalore, gave her a profound respect for the rigor of the art form and the patience required to teach it effectively.

 

In 2007, Vyju brought her wealth of experience and her vision to the Attleboro area, founding Noopur Nritya Academy.

Vyju recognized that while many classical schools focus solely on performance, families needed an environment that supported the whole child. She built NNA to be a supportive, family-centered 'village' where every dancer feels seen, welcomed, and inspired.

 

This commitment evolved into our core philosophy: we don't just create dancers; we build resilient, confident, and culturally grounded young people through personalized growth and compassionate teaching.
